Aviation Business Insurance

Whether you rent to fly, own a single plane, operate a fleet of aircraft, run an airfield, head a global aerospace organization or anything in-between, there are a few standard coverages that all aviation professionals should consider carrying.

Collapse All Expand All

Hangar Insurance

From spare parts and tools to ground service equipment (GSE) and the aircraft themselves, purchasing insurance for your hangar can be one of the most important things you can do as an aviation business owner.

Hangar Property Insurance

Designed to protect against financial loss resulting from physical damage to a hangar, this insurance can cover perils like wind, hail and more. Also known as business property insurance, this coverage can also cover the assets stored within a hangar, such as ground service equipment, tools and spare parts.

Hangarkeepers Liability

Hangarkeepers liability is designed to help cover the cost of repairing or replacing aircraft that are damaged while in the care, custody and control of your business. Our aviation specialists will consult with you to identify proper coverage limits for your operation.

Commercial General Liability (CGL)

Widely considered the most crucial protection for almost all companies, commercial general liability insurance can help insulate you from the potentially crippling costs of an injury or damage to third-party property caused by your operation.

Commercial Auto Insurance

If your aviation company provides shuttle services or other ground transportation to clients, employees or others, you’d be wise to carry commercial auto coverage. As its name implies, commercial auto insurance can help mitigate risks associated with driving a commercial vehicle.

Pollution and Environmental Liability

From a fuel spill to cleaning agents and other pollutants, there are many environmental risks involved with owning and operating an aviation business. Pollution liability insurance can help control your environmental risks. Designed to help with the costs of containing a spill, pollution insurance can extend to clean-up, detoxification, remediation, pollutant removal and more.

Workers’ Compensation

Workers’ compensation insurance can help with the costs of medical bills and lost wages if a pilot, staff or other employee sustains an injury on the job.

Often packaged with workers’ compensation, employers’ liability coverage can protect owners, service providers and industry employers from financial loss due to a job-related worker injury or illness that is not covered by their workers’ comp policy.

Directors and Officers (D&O)

D&O insurance is a specialized form of professional liability insurance that protects corporate directors and officers against claims, often made by stockholders, customers and employees, alleging financial loss arising from mismanagement.

Aircraft Insurance

Regardless of whether you own or operate a single piston, turbine, helicopter or fleet of aircraft, Higginbotham can tailor aviation insurance policies to your needs.

Here are some aircraft insurance coverage options to consider.

Aircraft Liability

Aircraft liability insurance can help cover the costs of third-party bodily injury and property damage resulting from a covered loss. From the transportation of passengers to property damage on the ground, you should have coverage limit options to protect you and your business from unforeseen events.

Aircraft Hull Insurance

Hull insurance can cover the cost of damage to the aircraft itself. Like a comprehensive auto policy, hull coverage is designed to cover the cost of damage to your aircraft from vandalism, severe weather, accidents and theft.

This aviation insurance can help with the cost of repairing damage to an aircraft, sustained either in flight or on the ground.

Non-Owned Aircraft Insurance

Non-owned aircraft insurance provides coverage in the event a corporation or operator becomes legally liable for bodily injury (including passengers) and property damage to third parties as a result of a loss involving use of a non-owned aircraft.

Aircraft Engine Insurance

Considering their staggering replacement cost and complexity, it often makes sense to insure jet engines. From accidental damage to mechanical breakdown or total engine failure, turbine and engine insurance can give you additional peace of mind. Considering the cost to replace just one turbine can easily top $1 million, this supplemental coverage is wise to consider.

Aircraft on Ground (AOG)

This aviation coverage can help protect your profit margins should you end up needing to ground a plane in your fleet. Coverage options include replacement jet cover, mid-air diversion, client comfort expenditure and crew package.
